Certification for industry & steel structures

EN 1090 is not a badge you show a client to impress them — it is a legal prerequisite for CE marking, without which a steel structure simply cannot be sold into an EU project. Many workshops discover this only after already losing an order. We always start with the question: are you already out of compliance, or are you ahead of it?

EN 1090: an obligation, not a choice

CE marking to EN 1090-1 has been mandatory in the EU since 2013 (in Greece since 2012) for load-bearing steel or aluminium structures. It requires Factory Production Control certified by an accredited body — it is not self-declaration. We guide you to the correct execution class (EXC1–EXC4) for your project.

ISO 3834: the quality of the weld itself

EN 1090 says what you must do; ISO 3834 certifies how you do it — welding specifications, qualified welders (ISO 9606-1), welding procedures (EN 15614-1). Many clients ask for both together, since one substantiates the other.

Safety & pressure equipment

In heavy industry, ISO 45001 is not an administrative duty but a daily matter. Where pressure equipment exists (boilers, tanks, piping networks), PED (2014/68/EU) compliance is added. We design one integrated system instead of building each in isolation.

FAQ — Industry & Steel Structures

We already have CE on some products. Do we also need EN 1090?+

General CE marking does not automatically cover load-bearing steel structures — EN 1090-1 is the specific harmonised standard for them. We check your products' scope before telling you what is missing.

How long does the initial EN 1090 FPC certification take?+

It depends on the execution class and how organised your production already is. At the free assessment we give you a specific timeline, not a generic estimate.
