ISO certification for agri-food & food production

A European retail chain does not ask “is your product good?” — it asks for a specific certification scheme, with its own sector's name on it: BRCGS, IFS, FSSC 22000, GlobalGAP. The wrong scheme means a duplicate audit and lost time in a market where the season does not wait.

Which buyer asks for which scheme

British chains lean BRCGS, German ones IFS, multinational groups increasingly ask for FSSC 22000 (GFSI-recognised). GlobalGAP starts at the field — before the product even reaches the packing unit. We ask who your specific buyer is before recommending a scheme, so you don't build the wrong system.

Traceability from field to shelf

For products with a designation of origin or claims (organic, PDO, PGI), ISO 22005 traceability is not bureaucracy — it is the only proof of authenticity against imitation and the basis for a recall if needed. We build it as part of the same system, not a separate project.

Seasonality: the audit does not wait

GlobalGAP and ISO 22000 need to see an actual crop or production run in progress, not an empty greenhouse or a stopped line out of season. We plan the timeline backwards from your harvest or shipping season.

FAQ — Agri-food & Food Production

Do we need GlobalGAP AND ISO 22000, or just one?+

GlobalGAP covers primary production (the field/greenhouse); ISO 22000 covers processing/packing. If you do both, you often need both schemes — but documentation can largely be shared.

Our client asks for a “GFSI-recognised scheme”. What does that mean in practice?+

It means any of FSSC 22000, BRCGS or IFS Food — all recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative. Which one fits depends on your buyer's country and type; we determine that together at the free assessment.
